In a Bind and Need EGT Help

I know, heck of a first post, but I need help and hope you folks can provide it. I searched as best as possible and realized it will take a month of Sundays to find the answers I need.

My EGT sensors went out on the way to get my daughter. The 2 codes(p200c, p200e) said that the sensors in "Bank 1" are the culprit. I had a buddy take me to the ford house, got 2 shiny new sensors and now I have no clue where to put them. I found 3 sensors in the pipe and have no clue where "Bank 1" is located. The Ford house said there were 4. 2 in each bank.

The kicker is that I am suppose to be hauling the fifth wheel out of town in the morning hence the bind.

Fargus, sorry to hear of your problem.
The EGT sensors are in the exhaust system and there are 4 of them plus one NOX. sensor.
You can find all of this by looking at the top of the page where you originally posted this. It says Tech folder on it I think.
I am not an expert, but this is where I would look if I was in your situation.
Good luck.

Ok so I went to the tech folder. first item says Diesel overview.
Downloaded it and went to Pg.79 or 81 of 94 of pdf.
And voila there it was the physical location of the Exhaust sensors !!!
Easy as can be .
Hope this helps some one. If not at least I had fun looking thru it.

Read this thread its has diagram of the location for the 4 EGT Sensors. I have it printed out a copy and placed it in my glove box along with 2 new sensors, 13MM Flare Wrench. Hope the hell a failed Sensor doesn't leave me on the road while Towing my 5th wheel. I will be ready it this does occur.

Just to piggy back on this. It is almost EGT14 the one behind the dpf that gives the trouble.

Also the cab and chassis is now the same. for 2013 and beyond.

Code shows 12 or 13 to be the culprit.

That would suggest the two in the middle in the diagram below. It's probably only one that is the problem but since you have two sensors and it takes time to figure out which is bad u would just do both.

Crawled under the truck today and located all 4 EGT Sensors and removed each sensor and applied high temp anti seize to the threads. At 16,000 they were easy to remove. I'm prepared in case any of one of them bad boys fail. I bought my truck primarily for towing my boat or 5th wheel and the stories of failed sensors with stop safely now messages 50 - 100 miles from the nearest Ford dealer waiting for a tow isn't a good thing.

Some 2013-2014 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 12/15/2013 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) with exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor DTC stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory. This may be caused by an improper crimp on the body side harness sensor connector. An improper sensor harness crimp can result in high EGT resistance and DTC P2080, P0544, P2084, P2031, P242A, P242B, P246E, P246F, P200C and/or P200E. ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE
  1. Using the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or equivalent, check for continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTC).
  1. Is CMDTC P2080, P0544, P2084, P2031, P242A, P242B, P246E, P246F, P200C and/or P200E present?
    1. No - this procedure does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
    1. Yes - replace the 2-pin male connector on the vehicle body harness that corresponds with the EGT DTC observed using the solder splicing method. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 27-1 for EGT sensor locations. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1 for solder splicing method instructions.
      1. Removing the EGT sensor from the vehicle is not required during the repair.
  1. Clear the DTC.

Good info, now I need to carry a soldering iron as we'll. Why doesn't Ford have a recall and change the programming so the 2011-2015 6.7 has a speed limiter instead of pull over safely now! Thanks for the tech info.

So if a sensor says 1600 degrees and the rest of them show 300 (whether or not its right) you'll keep driving even if theres a fire. Then if someone dies in the fire, you're not going to sue Ford?

If the truck shuts itself off in -40 degree temps, in the middle of nowhere, it may end up finding itself on fire anyway.

If that is your issue, once replaced that won't ever be an issue again. It may have happened in transport.

They appear to be getting corrosion in the body side connector that wasn't experienced in testing.. the corrosion is affecting the sensor signal.
