so my windshield wiper motor on my 1967 ford when i turn it on it does nothing. i just here the switch actuating in. but if i take a vice grips and hook it onto the ***** where the wipers go and rotate it half a turn and turn the switch on they move that half a turn and stop. its like theres something screw up where the motor dont wanna turn them back and forth any ideas wiring maybe
Bub you gotta give us more info, we are not mind readers. Why is this happening? What are you doing to this cab? Has the wiring been removed? Why are you able to place vise grips on *****?
The wiper motor turns in one direction, some at 2 different speeds. It is the arm action connected to the motor that causes the back & forth action.
If properly grounded and power to the terminal the motor should turn. We can't see anything at your house.
Sounds like a bad switch. Need to do some checks with an ohm meter make sure switch is working. Check the gnd wire, if I remember it connects to the heater box. You might have to get under the dash and follow the wires to find gnd. Make sure your getting constant power to switch/motor. Wiggle the switch when in on position to see if motor runs.
Get under the dash and try to move the wiper arms but MAKE SURE NO POWER IS GOING TO MOTOR SO FINGERS DON'T GET PINCHED/BROKEING IF MOTOR ENGAGAES! DON'T JUST TURN OFF SWITCH, IF THAT IS BAD MOTOR COULD STILL ENGAGE. There are bushing in the arms end and motor that wear out, go bad and can cause binding. If the arms move the bushing are most likely bad. Do checks and post findings.
allright ill give them a try see what happens the guy before me put a 67 shortbox ford on a 74 ford 4x4 frame so since i didnt do it im not sure what hes all got going on here. i pretty much got everything fixed the way it should be though. just wasnt sure about that wiper motor like i said i hear the swith turn the motor on but nothing happens but if i manually move the ***** where the wipers connects to it rotates like 1/4 of a turn and stops doesnt do anything after that. unless i turn it back another 1/4 turn then it does the same thing and stops
