I am very new to the V10 world (1 week old) but have been doing a lot of reading here. Thanks for all the great info and I see a lot of love for 5 Star tuning. I have had real good luck with my Tahoe, that is being replaced by an Excursion, with a tune from Wait 4 Me Performance and actually averaged 23 MPG on a 2500 mile trip to Oregon...in a vehicle that was EPA rated at 18MPG. I am wondering if anyone has used W4MP tunes and had good results on their V10. He is real strong in the GM and especially Cadi world but I don't know about the Ford arena. The nice thing is he will send a tune with the tuner for $400 and refund $150 back when the tuner gets returned. I have no need to keep the tuner after it is tuned.
Welcome to the forum!
I would hate to see you spend your money on a tune for a Ford from a Chevy shop that didn't deliver the best performance. And I think $250 for a single tune is a bit high. 5 Star Tuning is very popular here for good reasons, solid performance and top notch customer service, Mike will write a custom tune for your specific needs taking any other mods into consideration.
Be sure to stop in over in the Excursion King of SUVs forum, we have some very sharp and helpful folks over there to help you get the most out of your new EX.
As already mentioned Mike @ 5 Star is incredibly well loved here due his specializing in the Ford V10, actually the Modular Motors in general.
Also a big fan of Chevy performance stuff but with Mike's reputation and high customer service dedication one can't beat a shop dedicated to servicing the brand you own. W4MP may indeed be great with GM but the V10 is a very different beast.
+1 for talking to 5Star. Heck, there may even be a group buy coming up. That is how I got mine. Congrats on the Ex, and like already mentioned, come see us in the Ex part of the forum.
