I'm new to psd too and I think one tank is just a little bigger than the other but combined their still just the size of a regular tank in one of my chevy's. My chevy with dual tanks has 20 or 25 gallon tanks on both sides.
I usually get just over 230 per tank.wich with my 285s and mild 3.55 gears is 17 in town and just a tic under 18 highway. Keeping the tach under 2k rpms is the key to good. mileage.if you fill that tank you will get like 12 gallons in it...be patient and you will squeese more like 16 in..that helps range also.the vents on these tanks are a problem thus making them fill slow.
I just found a couple of receipts from a few months ago. I got 18.4 one time on the highway but another time I got 16.4 on the highway. In town I got 15.2. The highway miles where averaging 65 to 75 mph. I have a completely stock 97 7.3.
The best I've seen in my truck was 18 and that was a few years ago on a bone stock truck. I normally get about 14 mixed now with the mods in my sig. Those stage 2's just don't let you not open it up!
Mines a '97 crew cab shortbed 4x4 and it's got a 50 horse chip, a 6636 conversion and auto trans. I get about 18-19 in town without a trailer and about 20-22 on highway without a trailer. The difference on the trucks mileage when I pull the trailer is only roughly 2 mpg. It definitely rides better loaded! Will never go back to my gasser for towing ever!
congrats on the power stroke, your mileage sounds close to mine. I've gotten well over 20 all highway unloaded. and ill round to 20 when we load up the camping gear, including the child bike trailer acting like one of those cool spoilers you see on Honda's.
can I assume you have a 63, hope you found that section on this site too.
Which tank? The stock one up front, the 38 gal rear or the 33 aux in the bed? About a 100 miles on front tank. I've been fighting head winds no matter which direction I point the old gray mare! LOL
I regularly get to 360-380 miles on the front tank and 300ish on the rear. Highest was 410 on the front which took 19.1 gallons to fill.
Owners manual says mine are 19.2 front and 18.? rear. The sending unit for the front tank reads empty at close to the 19 gallon mark. On the rear tank, however, it shows empty at about 13 gallons. Lowest I've ever taken the rear tank is 17 gallons, then I chickened out....where is Kramer when you need him.

I'm in the 16-18 range, but like said, it is really hard to determine actual mileage because of the roll-over valves. Takes forever to actually fill the things. So you are always guessing unless you want to take the time over and over.
