Need some help

I have a 2004 Ford f250 6.0. When driving it down the road i will hear a loud spinning sound, sorta like putting a playing card in your bicycle spokes. The sound can be heard until i make a complete stop where at that time the sound stops and a clunk can be felt. After that the truck sounds normal. This also only happens once between starting the truck and turning it off. I took it into the shop and they could not hear the sound, all they said is i need new ball joints. Any Ideas?

Are your hubs partially locked?

this is a little off topic but we used to put long zip ties on coworkers drive shafts and held them down to the driveshaft with tape so that the noise didn't start right away.

We were mechanics and it got us out of the shop to go check on the trucks lol always a good laugh

I checked the hubs and they are both on auto. The driverside hub was really hard to move but eventually i got it loose and made sure it was on auto. Also the starter is 5 months old so hopefully that isnt the noise.
