Suspension Noise? help?
it happens from about 25-35mph
to me it doesnt sound like a bearing.. or ball joint..
u know the sound your tire makes when its got something sticking out of it?
thud...nothing...thud...nothing (sorry lol thats the best i can think to explain it)
well it is kind of like that... but its not a loud thud, and theres no silence in between, theres a sound that SOMEWHAT resembles what a bad bearing would sound like but a really low tone. but its quieter than the "thud" sound
and it appears to sound worse when i an turning to the right....
so it kinda sounds like this in a low tone..
hmmmmmmmHMMMhmmmmmmmHMMMhmmmmmmmHMMM
does that make sense? i dont know how else to explain the sound LOL
let me know what you guys think? Thank u
its a really low sound that resembles a bad-bearing sound.. but is louder almost thudlike at a certain point in the wheels rotation...
its only above 25mph and nothing sounds loose in the suspension when im going over bumps.
i know for a fact it needs shocks but i highly doubt that would attribute to this noise...?
If this truck has standard universals on the outer stub-shafts to the rotors, it could very well be a set of the roller-bearings in one of the cups (or all) on one of the U-Joints. The sound your describing, with the timing, and the heitened volume, etc., is usually indicative of a U-Joint piling up.
This is usually due to lack of service/greasing. The fix is pretty straight forward. I'd recommend you grease the joints (if they're the servicable type) and see if that eliminates the symptoms, if it does, then replace the joints because they've already failed and greasing them is only a temporary fix.
Incidentally, there's a possibility that it's a drive-shaft U-Joint as well, so you may as well service/grease them to.
Hope this helps...
