We're on the same page.

A medium duty engine is not going to fit in a pickup.
The crank is WAY too long.

A external crank will easily fit in a C8 block.
The flywheel and spacer provide balance.
The seals didn't change diameter.

I've only worked on 370's in chip and bucket trucks.
Don't know how different they may be from a medium 429.
