You'll need to find out if you have a hydraulic clutch or the older style. Just finished or maybe not working on a 92 that had the mazda 5 spd, you'll also need to find out if the clutch pedal, master or slave cylinder might need the work. Perhaps it just needs a good bleeding .....
lay down and look up underneath your dash ... the master cylinder pushrod is just above the gas pedal. if it's threaded, then you have some adjustment there.
what's more likely, is that the plastic bushing on the clutch pedal pivot arm is : worn, broken, completely missing. wiggle the clutch pedal up and down by hand while examining the pivot arm area and check for slop. remove the clutch master cylinder pushrod, and its plastic bushing ( if it's still there) check the ball on the end of the pivot arm for wear ... if your plastic bushing is completely gone then you will have had metal to metal contact there and it will be ruined. if that is the case you will need to go to a wrecker to find a good one, or take yours out and get it repaired.
I am going thru this now as well. Also try working the clutch pedal back and forth and watch for slop anywhere from the bracket holding the rod to the pushrod going into the master cylinder. Wherever there is slop is the area you'll need to be concerned about. I just put a new nylon bushing in the eyelet but it keeps wanting to pop off the shaft ..... Anyways if you have slop because the bracket has worn where the shaft comes across closer to the gas pedal, there is an adjustment by taking off the nut on that shaft and rotating that approx 3
inch metal tang that has the stud on the end which you put the clutch rod back into ....
If anybody has ideas how to make that clip stay on that stud, I am all ears ....
