Searched through a bunch of older threads and never really found what I was looking for. Bought my 06 F350 CCLB Dually in January and would like to put a backup camera on it. After doing some research and looking at options I decided to put in a new head unit to be able to view the camera image. Just ordered a Sony XAV-64BT.
Now the question is which camera to buy and which location for install? My preference would be the tailgate handle but from what I've read I can only get that if I buy a newer tailgate which I am not going to do. So what would the next best mounting place/type be and the best camera for it?
Any comments/suggestions would be much appreciated!
I saw that while I was searching but my emblem is all the way on the right side of my tailgate. I don't think the emblem will work for me being off center like that. One of the reasons I want the camera is to assist when I am hooking up a trailer which I do fairly often. Thanks for your input though!
I bought a license plate frame that has the camera built in. The frame is chrome plated, pot metal I think, and the camera is at the top and pivots up and down to get it aimed correctly.
I had the emblem camera on my F150, I've just had this fitted to my SD, unfortunately I don't know the brand as my local audio guy did the install. I do know it works well with the Pioneer AVIC 960DAB I had fitted which has some great features like adjustable parking guide lines, it is perfect for hitching up a trailer.

So did they screw that right to the tailgate? It looks like it is wired and runs underneath the tailgate? If that is correct, is there a way to disconnect it for removing the tailgate?
It is screwed to the tailgate, there is a waterproof connection behind the bumper, I asked for this for 2 reasons firstly so I can remove the tailgate, secondly I can add another camera to the back of al trailer.
