As usual, when it comes to my stuff,I'm always in a rush.My alternator bearing is going south so I had some time to switch over to my stock one.Took it off in record time and started to replace it with the old one.But guess what I was too lazy to do,that's right, I though I was that good, that I didn't have to disconnect the batteries and just touched the wench for a split sec and guess it screwed up something cause now it has a low charge. Rule number one:disconnect the batteries when working on your truck. Rule number 2:See rule number one when in doubt. I most likely fired the regulator in the stocker so off to advanced auto for a rebuild while I wait for the warranty one to come back. As the old saying goes, haste makes waist
Just need to disconnect the charge cable at the battery, no need to completely disconnected the batteries.
I did the same years ago swapping an alternator in a Nissan Pathfinder. Figured it was easy and why bother, ended up arcing the wench against the frame and took a few fuses.
I have quite a few wrenches with arc marks when swapping batteries in Deere 644H/J loaders. They give ya much room to play in there.
I was looking to see if I could have blown a fuse or a fusable link but I don't think that's the case, cause it will go to about 13.2 at the batteries with a meter.I can't win this week ! My exhaust is still sitting in the garage waiting to go on too
I neverthats why I'm in the Zapper club too LOL, funny story for those who want to read
I was working on the farm one day pulling weeds on the fence line , some were really deep rooted , got in a little closer to yank that root out and BAM hot wire across my for head WTH step me back a few, so I went to the barn and grabbed a shovel, and commenced to digging, put the spade into that big root and ZZZAP WTH after the numbness went away I figured out the shovel was a old all metal handle. I have welded many plyers and wrenches in my time and I don't buy anything that don't have protective cover anymore, have a good day
Was clearing small tree roots out from around the a/c unit and sprinkler zone valves in front of our home, when i cut through the hi-pressure insulated refrigerant line..
It looked like a 2" root...
