New 2008 F150 Owner
Hey Guys!
I usually hang out in either the Super Duty of 6.0 Diesel forum, but I (or I guess I should say my wife) am the owner of a new to us 2008 F150 SuperCab. It is a white XL model with the 4.6L engine and an automatic trans.
After her Volkswagen Beetle broke down she decided she wanted something bigger. I am fixing the VW and we will sell, but she started out wanting an SUV, maybe an Escape. We had been looking around for a while and were disappointed at the price of any SUV, even those with high mileage and were pretty gross looking in the interior. When I was getting new tires put on my Super Duty last Saturday I saw an 05 at the car lot. It was a supercrew and looked nice. I inquired if she would be interested in something like that, and she was concerned it was too big. She looked at pictures of them on the internet and decided she wanted to look at it, but it had to have 4 doors, to be most SUV like. We drove it last night, and it needed quite a bit of work. We passed and then noticed this 08 4x4 SuperCab. It really drew our attention. It looked very clean. She reluctantly looked at it even though it wasn't a Super Crew. She then said, she would have to drive it to know for sure, and after a spin she fell in love, even though it was missing two doors. The SuperCab room was better than expected, when compared to my dad's 99 F150 Scab, and was a better truck with a lot less miles than the Screw we originally were interested in. She is very happy, as this is her first truck. I have a 96 F150 Standard Cab, and I have experience with the 4.6 on my dad's 99 F150. Are these as easy to work on as his 1999? We will pick it up later today.
Now she wants me to find a Factory In-Dash 6 disc changer, like what is in my SD, and she said it is a requirement that I put Step Bars on it for her. Any suggestions on what steps to get? She wants chrome or polished. I think polished would be better, as I have seen a lot of chrome ones rust out in only a few years.
Thanks for listening to my long story!

Congrats on your wife's new truck.
You will likely get a bunch of varied responses for steps, and here is mine...
I went with nasta brand. They are 4 years old and no issues. The selling point for me was they are stainless. Everything was stainless including the brackets and bolts. I have dealt with rusty step bars on previous vehicles and didn't want that hassle again. I have been very pleased with these step bars. Good luck

It is just a SuperCab instead of the SuperCrew that she originally wanted. It was my attempt at humor. The truck is in great shape, both looking and running wise, but it only has two fullsize doors instead of four. The SuperCab doors are on and are white, just like the rest of the truck. We wanted to pick up the truck yesterday, but all of the paperwork was not finalized, so we will get it Monday. I will try to post up pictures as soon as I get it home.

Yeah. I was just joking around. She really wanted a Screw, but after pricing a few I was able to talk her into a Scab. We picked it up on Monday evening and after a week of driving it she is in love. She said the only thing she does not like so far is the cost to fill it up with gas when compared to her previous VW Beetle. We went to Kroger as soon as she got it to fill it up and it cost her $87 to fill it up with a $0.60 discount per gallon. I ran the VIN on the Ford ETIS website, and it has an extended range tank. Anyone have any idea about how many gallons of capacity this tank holds. With her short commute this week she has only used a quarter tank and driven two hundred miles.
