1 last question. I tried to adjust my choke plate, but now it has no spring action. When you push it, it doesn't spring back. It just flaps back & forth as if the spring is disconnected. Did I over adjust, or did I break something?

You probably went the wrong way. You need to turn it to put spring pressure on it and have the spring close the choke as David explained.

Also, most adjustments relating to the choke need to be done with the engine fully cold, so it may involve a few mornings to get everything right.

Once the engine has been started, the choke coil (the spring inside the black cap) heats up & prevents accurate adjustments from being possible.
It also stops the choke flap from closing when you press on the accelerator, until the engine & choke are cold again.
