Fuel Problem - HELP!!! :)
SO the other morning, my son tries to start the '79 F250. It turn and turns and turns. Hmmm.. Maybe out of fuel. add some from the can. Turns and turns and turns. Spray a little either.. *Cough*, *Spit*, *Whir*, stop..... Hmmm.. not much fuel in the in-line filter. Change filter. Nope.. Same.. OK.. Fuel pump must be bad. Change fuel pump.
Now, new pump, new filter, all nice and connected.. SAME DAMN THING!! no fuel coming up to the filter at all.
Running out of ideas. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

1971/79 all FoMoCo vehicles except 1971/77 F100/350's with in-cab fuel tank. Except 1971/77 Maverick/Comet & 1971/79 Pinto/Bobcat that use D1FZ-9A011-A 5/16" ID filter screen.
I even went as far as to hook a vacuum up to the fuel line and try to pull from the tank forward. Still nothing.

Bill, our next step is to drop the tank. However it is pouring outside and lying on the ground seems a little, well archaic in the rain.
Yep. I'm old. However my question to that is this. it is a plastic tank. We have been wanting to replace it because there is a pinhole someplace that we cannot find.
If anyone knows where I can get a replacement tank, that would be AWESOME I have found a couple, however everytime I call or try to order they are out of stock with no known replacement date.
Thanks

Thank you.
The problem I keep running into is that it is a 4x4 and it came stock with the plastic tank (From what I can tell) and none of these seem to be for that truck.
Does anyone know if the 2x4 will fit? I hate to order a tank in to find out that I am a moron.
Thanks

I should have also mentioned that this is the front tank. The previous owner removed the rear tank and all of the supporting brackets. Have not gotten that far yet...

78/79 duel fuel tanks frame switch-Duralast/Universal 3 port fuel selector valve used with SW48 toggle switch Part Number: FSV4
There are two differences between the tanks. Tanks with EEC have a hole in the top center of the tank. A rubber grommet and check valve are pressed into the hole. A line goes from the check valve along the inside of the passenger side frame rail to the engine compartment where it hooks up to a charcoal canister. Non-EEC tanks don't have this hole. The other difference is the nipple for the breather line that is located right next to the nipple for the filler hose is located 180 degrees opposite.
If you are going from an EEC tank to a non-EEC tank you must also change the fuel cap to a vented style. The EEC tanks are vented through the EEC system and use a sealed fuel cap. Non-EEC tanks vent through the fuel filler cap.
If you run a non-EEC tank and a sealed cap the minimum is you'll have fuel starvation problems, at worst a collapsed fuel tank.
Is your truck a longbed 4WD? Does it have evaporative emission system?
There are two possibilities with the plastic tank.
