Im confused and trying to figure out if my truck is an xl or xlt. Its a 2006 4.6l v8 and has: alloy rims, chrome front bumper, 5.5ft bed (which I don't think is an option with the xl), cruise control, 6 disc cd player, rubber floor liner, and manual windows and locks (which I don't believe an xlt would come with). there is no emblem any where on the vehicle to specify. All my vehicle docs don't say. Im looking to sell and that why I need to know. Im not looking to cheat myself or anyone else out of money and its about $1500 difference. Please help

 

Sounds like an xl with the rubber floor and manual windows

 

Ford is normally proud of the xlt so it would have been on the badging. Black bumpers? Most likely xl

 

Run the vin at Home : Free VIN Decoder - Vehicle Identification Number Check worked for me, told me exactly what I had

 

The badges would specify XL or XLT. Sounds like an STX with the exception of the chrome front bumper. Maybe it was replaced at some point.

 

A better VIN decoder is http://www.etis.ford.com. click on "Vehicle" and put in your VIN. There will be a link on the right to get every option your truck was ordered with.

 

That is a much better vin decoder than the one I have been using. I am book marking it for future reference.

 

It will also tell you about any open recalls or factory extended warranties.

 

I was able to contact ford and they sent me the window sticker via email. It's an stx, I just never considered that because I thought it always said "stx" on the rear bed in big lettering. Thanks

 

My little brothers 08 I posted about last night is the STX. it has the lettering on the bedsides, if it were my truck they would come off in short order. Bad enough a little kid asked him the other day why his truck said "sex" on it.
