Fuel pump adjustment

Hello I see many videos of people turning there pumps up on the 7.3 idi like mine and claiming more throttle response and power. Is this a bad idea to do on a 7.3idi with a ats turbo with a pyrometer? Perhaps this would lead to a premature death of my beloved truck?

Not a bad idea if you have a pyro. You just need to watch the EGTs and make sure they don't get too high (which can happen if you start messing with fuel amounts).

Better bank for the buck, though, would be to adjust your pump timing first. They retard over time. Bumping it back up to spec (or even a little advanced) will wake it up, then you can play with fuel levels from there.

Todays diesel is around 47 cetain, and burns a little faster than the diesel the 7.3 was designed around, so some are of the opinion that hp and torque are hurt by pushing the timing to far. especially when not spilling compression with a cam, so as long as you keep a eye on the pyro, go for it. if you can get your hands on a intercooler and up size your turbo, and a cam, you too, can start destroying trannys, and rear ends
