E4OD issues

I think my E4OD in my 95 f150 is slipping in 4th gear. Just started the last couple of days, the engine rpms stay steady but the speedometer bounces around 3 to 5 mph. Any thoughts? Thinking rebuild of the trans, but not kind of new to this area, my experience is im older Jeeps....

If it's not having trouble shifting gears, or skipping, it could be a torque converter issue.

If the RPMs are staying steady then the transmission is NOT slipping. You have a speedometer problem, not a transmission problem.

Well thats what i thought too based on my experience. I can feel the vehicle buck or kick (for lack of a better word) when the speedo is doing this. What else could be causing this? Thanks in advance for the help and ideas.

It could be an engine miss. It could be electrical issues. Are there any codes stored in the computer?

No check engine lights, I dont have a reader for obd1 systems. Isnt there a way to retrieve codes without a scanner on obd1 engines?

There is. It takes a sophisticated tool called a paper clip.
