Crew Cab vs Extended Cab vs Regular Cab

Hello, I'm 15 years old and will be driving in 6 months. My brother has a 2000 F-250 super duty lariat with an extended cab and an 8 foot bed. I've been around it for three years and I have realized how useful the bed and towing capacity is. I have decided that I want a truck to tow a trailer and potentially a boat in thr near future. I want the bed and trailer for hauling and moving heavy items for work. What I want to know is how noticeably different is the MPG for a regular cab to an extended cab to a crew cab? Is it worth buying a smaller cab for the savings in gas or is it worth being able to take some friends down to the beath comfortably? Thanks

I think the difference between reg cab and crew is 400 pounds. I don't believe you would notice a difference in fuel mileage for 400 pounds.
