Gasoline actually works and is cheaper than anything else I've tried.
Any other petroleum based solvent is great as well; Mineral spirits works well, but is about 4x the price of gasoline. It isn't as volatile, so it wets an area longer.
I've tried all the colored cleaners and they dont seem to do much more than plain water for me.
A siphon sprayer is a great way to apply whatever you decide, without wasting a bunch of it and doubles as an air gun to help clean it all off after.
so far the only thing working is the oven cleaner,i wont spray gas all over under my truck, thanks though. I also used 1 of my old paint gun's spraying thinner at high air pressure. THANKS again to all.
I use a product called Citrol. Takes off oil and grease. It cleans gun barrels safely too! A local gunsmith soaks barrels in it overnight to remove old deposits. Takes gum out of carpets. Anyway, I use it on my trucks. Haven't had any problems. Plus it SMELLS good!
I agree that the Purple crud works well but it leaves a white residue that pisses me off.
That said, I have a bottle of it in my garage.
I'd love to try some of the other stuff mentioned.
If you want to pay more, you can get premium. Or Avgas. They all work better than anything mentioned. Avgas is prettier, but regular ol' unleaded wont fail you either.
That whole "Not to be used as a solvent," rubbish is a warning from solvent companies.

Jet fuel, aka Avgas, is pretty much like kerosene.
I use kerosene. Great for motorcycle chains. I got a 55 gallon drum of aviation kero years ago for free. Haven't found a better solvent for that monkey turd grease build up on parts.

Gas here is 3.80 a gallon. Brake clean is 2 cans for $5. I dunno I was just sayin I wish gas was cheap enough to use for a large amount of degreaser.
