Which tranny fluid

I got a motor and tranny. the tranny is a 1966 C6 that I am going to use in a 56 PU. It is a low miles tranny so I am going to change the fluid and filter and give it a try. What is the recommended fluid for this tranny the TYPE F or the DEXRON lll MERCON ? And how many Quarts with the stock pan?

C6: Approx. 13 quarts including torque converter.

1966/76 C6: Type F ATF / 1977/97 C6: Mercon aka Dextron II.

^ He said it. I put a quart directly in the torque convert before I bolt everything together, the other 12 go down the pipe.
