Just bought this vehicle, engine would start, and run...then shut down. I replaced fuel pump in the tank, and new pressure regulator. Vehicle starts fine, runs great at idle, but when put in drive, she coughs, sputters while I'm stepping on the gas. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Vehicle is standard cab, 2.3L gas engine.
Sounds like a good plan. However, I have no way of checking the voltage output and or the fuel pressure without the proper tools, just getting started in the fix-my-mobile business. Also, where would I find the TPS...?
The throttle cable connects to the throttle plate & the TPS monitors the position of the throttle plate. It sends 1 volt to the PCM/computer at idle up to 5 volts at full throttle
The last fuel pressure gauge that I bought was from Harbor Freight. You want the one for fuel injection. It was about 15 bucks. Look at the top of the engine for what looks like a tire pressure valve. Screw on the gauge to check fuel pressure.
The simplest way to pull trouble codes is with an Equus 3145 scanner. It reads/stores/displays the codes.
Check it out at amazon.com. About 25 bucks. Or google "pulling EEC-4 trouble codes with an analog VOM."
Good luck with the new business.
