What is "level"?

I changed the fluids in my transfer case and tranny this past weekend. Since it was the first time doing something like that on this truck, I checked out some YouTube videos first. They said when doing this work, to park the truck on as level ground as possible. I can understand that as different amounts of fluid could be refilled based on how the truck is sitting. My issue is that I installed a 2" levelling kit last year on the front of the truck. If I want ed to take an actual level to a part of the truck to determine if it's "as level as possible", what would I measure? the frame? The top edge of the bed? Any ideas? Does it even matter that much?

In the trans a couple of ounces of fluid won't really matter. On the t-case, I park with the nose up hill to drain it. I put in what fluid I can and then turn the truck around and park the nose down hill and top it off. This gives the t-case a few extra ounces. I think that no more than they hold this would be beneficial, but who knows. That's my $.02 worth!

Trans fluid level is measured with the engine running and at operating temp. The vehicle should be on relatively level ground meaning if it's in neutral it won't want to roll away, but it doesn't have to be perfectly level.

Yup, just level it out best you can, front to back and side to side. Parking in the street or in the yard works for me.

Basically just make sure you don't do it in the driveway, on the side of a berm, or at the bottom of a sinkhole, and you'll be fine.
