Thanks Bill, you always come through! I will post pictures of the clips I found at the salvage yard, including the famous "QUAD" clip, the original 4-wire clip that mounts to a breacket on the rear of the engine.

here;s the fruit of my trip to the local salvage yard:

Left to Right:

1) 3-wire clip found at the rear of engine "floating", not attached
to any bracket.

2) 3-wire clip found at the rear of engine, similar to #1 but this one attaches to something at the rear of the engine. I found it "floating" too.

3) 2-wire clip of the type that is pushed-into the hole of a bracket welded to the Valve covers. The "ball" has a 1/16" "notch" that snaps to the round hole at the bracket. I managed to pull this one without breaking it.

4) the famous 4-wire "QUAD" clip shown in many of the 4.0 illustrations of the spark plug wire routings which makes no sense because there's only 3 wires on each side of the engine. This one came of a 1993 4.0 Aerostar. It was mounted at the rear of the Driver's side of the engine, attached to a bracket welded to the Valve cover. As you can see, the "ball" broke off when I removed it , but it can be glued back. All these clips become brittle, with the heat of the engine as 93nighthawk says.

'Course...we know that most dealers don't go by the (M)SRP, they jack (17080 ) it up. So, for example...the $5.12 MSRP could be doubled, or?

But, if available from Ford and bought from an FTE Ford Dealer Parts Dept Sponsor, online price for each could be dealer net cost + 10% or between 23/25% off MSRP

Example from autonationfordwhitebearlake.com (formerly Tousley Ford-MN): FOTZ-12297-A MSRP each: $5.12 / FTE discount price each: $3.38 / Dealer net for this little charmer is $3.07 each.

Gee, for those prices, I might be tempted to just use tie-wraps to hold the wires steady.
