Spark Plug Wire Routing
I changed the plugs on my 97 AWD 4.0L this past weekend. On the drivers side I forgot where the wires ran. When I put the new ones on they touch the exhaust manifold (or shield) in several places.
Question: Is it OK if they come into contact with the hot manifold or engine?

You may want to use tie straps to put them out of the way. There are also plastic "holders" where the wires "snap" into to hold them out of the way. You don't really want them touching the hot engine or manifolds if it can be avoided.

i have a 91 4.0 litre. on the drivers side, in the back, mine has a plastic routing clip on the back of the valve cover, ( its hard to see, sort of on the side of the actual valve cover) that holds three wires off the engine as they come around from the back of the engine. then as one breaks off to go to the rear plug there is another plastic clip on the middle of the drivers side valve cover for the remaining two. i routed mine in these clips it keeps them up of the engine.....good hunting, flashlight helps!!
