I know that H&S is one of the favorites around here, and I like what it does as well. But....I want to delete and dont really care to have all the shift tunes on the fly, code reader, etc. options that most tuners have. I want to run stock HP and TQ settings, but have no emissions. I have an Edge CTS to monitor things. Are there any other good (and cheaper) options when it comes to tuners that allows DPF, DEF and any other acronym my truck has, to be deleted and not throw codes and keep stock HP/TQ settings? Thanks for any input.
Nope, need a tuner, I would sell that cts and buy a mini, keep it on stock power and use it to monitor. Or you could buy an xrt pro and use that to upload the delete tune, keeping it on stock power...
The option is to run the SCT SF3 which you can load the flash and unplug and not see anything. A few of my friends run that on their 6.7L Fords (all 2012 models) but amongst my peers that is a smaller percentage than most of us including me who run the H&S solution. Still allows for full deletes so drop the rocket ship and tape up the wiring.
I know a tuner is needed, maybe i didnt explain correctly. What other tuners are out there that will allow for deletes, and not cost $1,500+? I dont need all the bells and whistles, or a built in monitor/touch screen, just want to delete.
Many of them sell for that price because people are willing to pay that price for them. It's definitely not the cost of the equipment.
The SF3 that I mentioned in my post is not an installed device. You plug it in to load the firmware and then you unplug it afterwards. You don't see anything, nothing is left connected. It's just a loader.
The H&S XRT Pro is also a loader only that you disconnect after you are done loading the tune.
The code reader feature is probably going to be in every product since that much is extremely easy to implement. But you mentioned you don't necessarily want a full time monitoring device which those products I mentioned will not do.
WHAT you may find is that it might not save you much in the end if you are narrowing down features just to attempt to cut down on costs.
A product is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it, but as you probably noticed, truck accessories sell for a pretty penny because people do shell out big bucks for this kind of stuff.

The expensive part is the part you need... the deletes. Before the EPA the Mini was half the price it is now. At this point the price is based on "because we can" and you pay 3x the price of the underlying BullyDog tuner to get the software that's on it.
