Hey guys, I understand this probable has been beat to death, but I've searched and haven't found the answer I'm looking for.
Here we go.....
This is my new Set up:
351W .30 over flat top pistons Crowder Cam(smaller tow Cam, don't have the spec.'s on me) Heavier Valve Springs, Marine Heads(with a little Porting) Shorty Headers Jacobs Ignition System, Edelbrock intake.
Now the Question. I need a Carb, preferable an Edelbrock brand.
I'm thinking a 650 CFM is what I want, but I'm not sure about the Choke or the EGR?
I don't know if your truck should have an EGR. I don't remeber when they started putting them in for emissions. The choke is really up to your personal preference. If you already have a choke cable then you can easily go manual choke or electric. Now as far as the actual carb goes, I am not sure what would be best, but I am sure someone with vast knowledge will be around shortly.

The 1806 or the 1805.... Forgive my ignorance but I'm not sure which is the best choice for my 71' ?
A 600-650 is right up your alley. I'm not a fan of Eddy carbs but if you are go for it. They are a little fat(rich) right out of the box so after you drive it for a bit read your spark plugs and see if you need to lean up the metering rods and/or jets. Also make sure you have an air cleaner that will fit it. Not all air cleaners fit Eddys since the fuel inlet is high on the right side. 2X Gembone on the choke. As far as the EGR goes, I doubt your Eddy intake is set up for it. Match the carb to your intake manifold.
Thanks Guys. I think, after talking to the locals that I'm going with the 650 CFM Electric Choke. they eased my mind about how it works and the ease of use.
As far as the Edelbrock Carb, they seem to have a lot of adjust-ability and once set seem to stay that way.
Given the option, I would run an EGR. When you tune for it, it'll give better mileage with no decrease in power. I think the later FEs had one, it was in the spacer under the carb so might be a bit of a trick to set up without that spacer.
well I made a few phone calls today and talked to a few people who recommended Quik Fuel, So with them being local I gave them a call and I think in all honesty they are the way to go. Local, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and seem to have a great product at a great price (more/better Carb. for the money). I'll keep you guys informed.
