Duraspark 2 wiring

Attempting to run 300 on a test stand before installing it into truck.
Have seen this procedure on U-Tube on several 300s.
Also plan to connect a hydraulic pump to the transmission output shaft to measure the HP & Torque developed by the 300 in various configurations.

The Duraspark ignition module has one red and one white colored wires on one of the two connectors.

The red wire gets reduced voltage (6 to 9 VDC) downsteam of the ballast resistor with the ignition switch in run position.

The white wire gets full battery voltage with the ignition switch in start position.

Question:
On a generic three position ignition switch, not the complicated OEM type ignition switch, when the switch is in spring loaded start(S) position, is the battery (B) to ignition(I) terminals open or closed?

Switch itself? Connection is closed in start position, sending power to "S" term of starter solenoid relay.

red wire should have full 12v power in run position. ballast resistor is for coil.

Yes, red wire receives full 12 VDC upstream of ballast resistor in "run" position.

Indak Manufacturing Corp makes generic 3 position ignition switches.

According to the Indak spreadsheet for battery ignition type switches where, B = battery, I = ignition, S = start, in position 3 , start position, circuits made = B + I +S,
which means there is continunity between B & I, when the switch is in the position 3 start position.

Therefore, the Duraspark 2 module should work with a toggle switch on the red wire from the battery and a separate push buttom spring loaded switch on the white wire from the battery for the starter and eliminate the keyed ignition switch.

For what you are doing you can skip the white wire, it will start fine without this input.

You just need a on/off switch for the ignition system and a push style switch for Start to energize the start solenoid.

Be sure the switches are rated over 5 amps.
