what is the advantage of removing the foil. I thought it was to help keep the heat off the intake air ?

I figured it had to do with protecting the stuff around it from the heat. When i replaced my intercooler and boost tubes the foil Banks provides only covers the bottom side of the tube. I wrapped mine with exhaust wrap because it fit better and looks better.
