On my dads 95 F150 (5.0) the front pump is pumping fuel out the neck under the filler cap while having the rear pump switched on. It quits coming out the neck when switched to the front and drives fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
It's possible to fill both tanks but you must use the front tank first. When you switch to the rear tank it will pump fuel to the engine but any unused fuel will return to the front tank due to the faulty check valve in the front tank fuel delivery pump. If you are on the rear tank there must be room in the front tank to take any unused returning fuel. I have the same situation and am debating whether to replace the front pump or just go with what I suggested above. This information was obtained via searches on this website. I believe I stated this accurately but I am new here and have very limited mechanical experience or skill. Hope this helps. Rob
