Tailgate hinge stuck

Tailgate hinge stuck

Just bought a 2006 f150, the tailgate hinge seems to be rusted to the cup(drivers side). Any tips for repairing/ getting it freed up?

Hit it with some kind of light spray oil/penetrant.

Got it moving, combination of penetrating oil, air chisel(not to cut anything, just vibrate it)and heat...

Makes me wonder why the previous owner HAD a truck... Those that USE a truck also open/close the tailgate pretty often.

???? I use my truck as a truck all the time , and rarely open the tail gate

just reach in and take stuff out.
