Has anyone had to ream tailgate bottom sleeve to accept tailgate hinges; I ordered aftermarket tailgate and new hinges, which at first glance, seem to need some work. If so, what tool would be recommended ?
When I built my tailgate I pressed in a couple of pipe sections into my lower roll, and the hinges didn't work smooth in them. The tailgate hinges themselves aren't perfectly round as they are made from flat steel that has been rolled. I found it easier to selectively grind on the hinges instead of reaming out the tailgate.
I do own several reamers and a metal burr that I have mounted in a drill press for reaming inside curves
How about heating the cups on the bottom roll to a cherry red then inserting and rotating the cool hinge to stretch the hinge cups rather than reaming and weakening them through metal loss?
