How many miles are you guys typically getting out of your air filters? I kept watching the air filter gauge and never saw it changing as the miles added up. I'm at 22k miles now and finally opened it up and looked at it and decided it was time for the first change even though the gauge was not indicating it needed to be. What say you?
Changed mine at 20k. Filter minder looked great, but when I gave the 200hp file try, I got a CEL when I got in it. Changed the filter and light went away.
Has anyone ever actually waited until the filter minder told them it was time to change it. At the rate mine was going, it would be 60 or 80 thousand miles before the filter minder said it needed to be changed.

That or higher was about the average on the 6.0. I don't know who's making them for the 6.7.

The air filter on the 6.7 is not the Doldaldson filter like on the 6.0. I suppose the Motorcraft filter doesn't have the load carrying capacity, but it cost much less so it can be changed out more frequently for the same $$$.
I don't trust that filter minder. I bought a box of 'waffle' filters and a spare foam pre filter. I change out the 'waffle' filter and wash the foam pre-filter every 12,000 miles.
I check mine often but pulling it out and actually inspected it and at around 25k miles it was dirty enough for me to change. The filter minder hadn't budged...
I went 47,000 miles on the original air filter and the filter minder had not budged yet. The filter just started to actually look dirty at that point. There wasn't any fine dust in the intake tract so I'm not going to go crazy and say that the filter minder doesn't work, but I will probably start changing it at 20k intervals because they are cheap and I have a few on hand.
Changing more often isn't bad for the vehicle but just added work if you're not having issues with it. I've seen the filters that come out of fleet trucks with the filter vacuum gauge right into the red zone, those pleats are packed! Had to clean out the rest of the air box too.
I only changed mine to an aftermarket air intake because of the snow ingestion issue I was having with the stock setup. I guess they just assume people shouldn't drive in blizzards? Well we don't exactly shut down the town like some places do when it snows...
