Air filter change

The manual for my 2016 F250 6.2L says to replace air filter at 30k miles. That seems like a long time. I always changed at 15k when I had my F150. I just turned 14k miles and have the motorcraft filter already. I am debating on when to change it out. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

I changed mine at 15K and 30K, it's a cheap maitance item. I buy Motocraft filters 2 at a time from Rock Auto.

Thanks Denny, Amazon has them also. More is probably better.

I change mine at 15k. It can't hurt anything.

You need to check it periodically! I checked mine last summer and it was loaded with some kind of organic material that I must have sucked up pulling my trailer through farm country. It was packed so densely I could not see light through it. Really noticed the difference after changing it.

I change air filters every time I change the oil, which is every 5k miles using quality synthetic. Filters are cheap.

I also change the diff and transfer case lubes once a year, which is about 15K miles for me. Again, cheap insurance and peace of mind plus I get to inspect things regularly and catch pending issues before they become immediate problems. I just wish the 6.2 had a serviceable fuel filter...

a filter is working at its best .. minutes before it begins to restrict..

no harm replacing early. same with oils/fluids...but Pricey..... except for wearing out the threads!!
aka, the 3,000 mile oil change is SO 1960's.

I use a washable "DRY" air filter... no oil.

depends on condition where you drive, I go 20,000 mile and they still look pretty good.

Just replaced the filter on my dads 15' since I was under the hood anyway, filter had a little under 11k miles on it and was a year and a few months old. It was dirty but not excessive. I try to replace paper filters every year or around 10k miles. Don't care what Ford says, they are only concerned about getting the truck out of warranty. Once again Ford made an airbox where changing the filter is more of hassle than need be. At least they are consistent at it I guess.

At 8K, my air filter was almost plugged with a mouse nest.. I rarely leave the truck outside at night, in the garage usually.. Best to check it at every oil change, IMO

Definitely check it every oil change. I usually change it every other oil change.

Always have 1 or 2 on hand, just in case.

I replace mine around the 6,000 mile mark. My truck idles often on all types of job sites. Summertime at the dirt track is even worse, sometimes its like driving through the dust bowl!

I changed mine today at 14K, it could have gone longer, but for $13 why wait.
