steering gearbox adjustment

Long story short trying to loosen up the adjustment on my steering gearbox but adjustment nut won't turn. I loosen up locknut and try turning the adjustment allen nut but I'd won't turn. Can you loosen the play in steering or can you only tighten?*

You did...You need a new box. Sector shaft adjustment should be done in small increments if at all....Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. Replace it before you kill yourself.

The hardest part I found was pulling the old pitman arm...I got tired of trying and bought a new one from ford.

If you're replacing the box and have the funds, it's usually recommended to upgrade to a RedHead steering box:

My truck will be getting one soon, hopefully.
