steering loose?

Everyone I need to ask is your steering loose? I have had My superduty for about 2 weeks and the steering seems loose. I can drive down the road and it goes straight but I can move the steering wheel to the left and right a few inches either way and that doesnt seem good. Plus the steering doesnt seem powerful enough for the wheels more pressure is required to turn, not a lot but I would think it would be tight and very little effort in trying to turn like being able to use one finger to do this.. Is this typical to all superdutys?? I am taking it in on thursday and will address these issues but would like to get educated on this prior too. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

No, my stearing is "normal" in that it handles like you would expect. I don't notice much play in the steering. My only complaint is that you need a half-acre to turn the the Beast around.

I have the same problem with my '05 F350. I've got about 3-4 inches of play in the wheel...it tracks straight but I'm worn out by the time I dive any kind of distance. I've had the ball joints replaced (by the dealer) also the steering gear....sure would be interested in knowing what they have done to yours to fix the problem

The steering gear has an adjustment on top for how tightly the gears mesh. I need to do this to my truck because I have a lot of steering wheel play as well. On top of the steering gear there is a allen-head adjustment screw with a locking nut around it. Loosen the nut, tighten allen-head screw 1/4 turn, tighten nut. Repeat this until the slack is better, but don't over tighten it as it can cause binding and steering gear damage, and to be safe only do 1/4 turn at a time.

Is it that simple? Mine has been to the shop three times for this and they still can't get it right.
