brake controller wiring

RE: 1993 f150. while wiring my brake controller I found what i think is a plug under ash tray I can use. It is a 4 connectorw/ red, white, blue and green. The green is hot when I step on brake but other 3 wires are not hot w/ign key on. Can Ipower up one of these wires by installing missingfuse or installing relay ect. Any help appreciated Thanks

Maybe. They changed the way this did this each year. Look in the fuse box, and also look under the hood for a little mysterious boxes that may have a fuse. I believe it will be the red wire that will be powered. The blue will be the output to the trailer brakes, and if you do not have the factory plug at the rear bumper, you will need to unwrap some of the harness back there and look for the blue wire so you can use it. I think the white wire is ground.
