Oiling the underside

so i recently got a 97 7.3 4x4 and its in 9/10 condition, and id like to keep it that way. However i live right next to the gulf of mexico and am never far from the water or the sand, im thinking about oiling the bottom with a spray bottle but im not sure what oil to use. I've heard that chainsaw bar oil is good and so is used motor oil, i have neither and it would be harder to get a hold of used motor oil, will new motor oil work? or is there something better that is easy to find? and then as far as the body goes should i just clean it completely then apply a generous coating of wax?

( currently i wash the truck as soon as it leaves the beach and the truck gets sprayed once to twice a week to wash salt off)

also how much crud is gonna build up when sand starts mixing with the oil?

thx

it may seem like a pipe dream but im gonna do my best to make this truck last a few decades...i figure being proactive against corrosion coupled with diligent maintenance with a few mods will take me far.

would linseed oil work well? we used it on the NOAA winches out at sea to keep the winch and line in good shape..

so heres what im thinking ..once i pick out an oil to use i will spray it on there once enough dirt and salt accumulates ill scrape the gunk off (im thinking three or four trips to PINS would do it..) with a metal ice scraper ..pressure wash with degreaser (purple power would be the product of choice) then spray it all over again

Couple of quarts of used motor oil mixed with a can of STP if you can find it, paint the stuff on with a brush. Lasts for a year dunkin' a trailer in saltwater.

Turtle wax or better (its what we use on the mustang and it works well i'm sure there are better waxs, some swear by meguiars , but turtle hasn't been bad for me yet) just apply and buff off(some use a wheel, i use terry cloth, takes a while but you won't buff the wax off).. lol might take a can or two on a 5ton truck tho...

on a side note has anybody heard of Corroseal? apparently it turns surface rust to magnetite and primer, any truth to this?

I don't know about Corroseal but I got a spray bottle of stuff at Tractor Supply that did the same type of thing. Spray the rust down and it turns it to something else, kind of a white, chalky substance. Then you can clean and primer. I suppose if you really want to get serious you need to get down to the frame and start fresh, but that is a ton of work. Make sure you coat the bottoms of the doors, the wheel wells and the shackles/hangers - they all are know heavy rust spots.

gunky i can live with, rusty i can not, i can scrape the gunk off every few months and reapply as needed, think i'll use the corroseal or something similar, then paint with flat black paint then oil over it...still havent decided on an oil yet tho
