Monster Walker jack

Found what I think is a Walker jack model 780. Faint blue and yellow paint spots. Always on the lookout for period tools for the shop. It actually rolls well.

Much different than I'm used to.

Called a long frame jack around here. Would probably lift a bulldozer....
Seriously heavy duty. Does it work?

Doesn't work yet but someday.....

I had to ramp it off the truck, carefully. Glad to report no injuries.

When attempting to move anything like this on your own, one should wear cowboy boots - The cowboy boots will prevent anything that drops down your pants leg from reaching the floor and getting stepped on.

Back in the mid 80's I worked in a transmission shop and they had one of those. You could lift the front end of a car with about 3 pumps. I think it was the owners fathers' before he got it. A total bruiser for sure.

check out Garage Journal, there are threads over there on people restoring jacks like that. They go to extremes that I could never afford, but the pictures are nice!

Dennis,

Took a look at the website and it has some great info on these old jacks. Thanks for the link.
