51-52 Seatbelts... show off what you have done

So... getting ready to fire up the 51 in a couple weeks and it doesn't have doors on it, since they will stay off until painted. However, I would like to add seatbelts before taking it around the block... ya know so I don't fall out.

Any ideas?

I was thinking 3 point shoulder belts.

This thing is dangerous enough with the tempered glass, chest spearing steering column, and the opposite of anything resembling a crumple zone.

I'd at least like to feel somewhat secure in the seat belt area.

I've read some guys make the anchor poitns out of 1/4 plate. I tried to stay closer to what the Windstar had for the 3rd row seats that I took the belts out of. It had like 14 ga plate with a dzen spot welds. Look through some vehicles at the wrecking yard and I'll see the anchor points are not the heavy. I assume to provide a little give in a really hard wreck. Mine is a 54 F100. I assume F1s would be similar.

and the lower mount

the upper shoulder strap mount

Ryan, I used 10 gauge (1/8) for the upper mounts. They tuck in behind the door jam and span the upper and lower brace for the rear window. The lower mounts bolt through the brace in the rear of the cab floor. It's several sheet metal layers there, and then I've reinforced the bottom of the floor. The center belts mount in the same fashion. Basically, the mounts are stronger than the cab surrounding them.
I purchased the belts from Julianos. The price was reasonable, but not the cheapest. He also supplies the proper mounting hardware.

Here are mine, I made the upper mounts myself and bought the belts from Juliano's. I didn't want to take a chance with used belts from a junk yard.
They come with good hardware and instructions.

tip49, I got your pm asking about the length of seat belt I used. I called Julianos with my application. I gave them seat height from the floor for my bench seat and answered the questions they asked. They chose the proper belts. I put in a center belt, lap only, also. I have two grand sons and I can use the center for a car seat. A full size adult does not fit, however. Especially since I have a five speed.

I measured where I wanted my buckle side to sit on the bench seat, cut them off, and took them to a shoe shop near home to have them stitched. The owner asked me what they were for, and said it was no charge. I gave him $10 anyway...
