ok, wonder what the large truck drivers do then since all newer diesels require it now
all truck stops around here are converting and most when I've been on the road too --- the closest one to me is 30 or 40 miles away, but since the def last 5-7,000 miles, I just wait until I go by one and fill up then...
Until recently, I would have to drive over an hour to the nearest Loves in a direction I rarely go.
I've never even seen a DEF pump at that truck stop but it would be silly of them not to have one.
Never timed it right where I was on the interstate and needed DEF because if I need DEF, I fill it before I leave on a trip to prevent issues I could have avoided.
Now there is a Shell within 15 minutes drive that recently installed a DEF unit with a pump but it's in the only semi lane.
I plan to give that a try if it's not backed up in the next 100-200 miles.
When I purchased my truck in 2010, only O'riley's knew what DEF was and they didn't even keep it on a shelf.
Other auto parts stores simply gave me a blank stare. That gives you an idea why I now only know of one DEF pump.
In 2010 asking for DEF was like asking for headlight fluid or muffler berings. Remember that well.
Look hard for the DEF pumps they are not easy to spot, kinda like diesel pumps years ago when the stations that had diesel didn't always advertise it well.
Pilots only had it at one pump in the beginning now almost every pump also has a DEF dispenser.
Is there a reason why you all dont use def at the pump? here it is 2.79 a gallon at the pump vs. $11-12 for 2.5 gallons.
Just curious.
Not one near me for a good 30 minutes and none at any local fuel stations at all.I buy my def from a local auto parts store for 10 bucks for 2.5 gallons.4 dollars a gallon.I only use 5 gallons a yr so Im not driving 30 minutes to save 1.50.Im sure eventually I may see them at local stations but I havent yet.

Yep, the only place to get it at the pump around here is the Pilot/Flying J and they only have it in the truck lanes. I'm not going to sit for an hour or more just to save a couple of bucks... If I was that hard up I'd not be driving a new diesel.
