I know a guy and know of another that have installed a Vortech blower on the 2.5L Duratec V6 in an SVT Contour. Not sure of teh stock Zetec's durability when supercharged. The SVT Focus that is coming out shortly will make 170 hp/145 ft-lbs torque with the Zetec normally aspirated.
Yes, the Focus and the Escape share the same engine/transmission. The goodies for the 2.0 in the Focus can be applied to the Escape/Tribute. The v6 Escape 2wd shares it's driveline with the Taurus/Windstar.

Not exactly true, and this is part of the problem with Ford powertrain. It's an utter mishmash. Read on and you'll see what I mean. The Focus and Escape have the same I4 engine, the DOHC 2.0L Zetec, and the same manual transaxle, but the automatics are different. A supercharger assembly that fits the Focus Zetec should work fine in an Escape; the manual transaxle is the same that was used in the Contour/Mystique with its 2.5L V6, so it should be able to take the extra torque.
Similarly, the V6 Escape has the same 3.0L Duratec V6 as the Taurus, but their transaxles are completely different. The Taurus also has the lower-level 3.0L Vulcan V6 engine (two different engines, same displacement; don't you love it?). The Windstar has the the same transaxle as the Taurus, as well as the same base engine, but has the venerable 3.8L pushrod V6 for its upgraded engine.
Don't know if any one is still following this string but here is some interesting info for Escape owners with a 4 banger. As you may know the 2.0L ZETEC in the Escape is the same engine in the Focus (not the 2.0L SPI) and so many after market performance parts for the ZETEC Focus will work on the ZETEC Escape.
There is one aftermarket company that now has a complete bolt on low-pressure turbo system for the ZETEC. The company is called Areocharger and they have designed three different stages of their turbo system to accommodate the customer's different needs. The Stage III system is reported to increase engine Hp to about 180 or more. This system is designed to package into a Focus engine compartment very well and the Escape engine compartment is much larger so installation will be easer. Best of all these turbo systems are emission legal and you still get great fuel economy.
I think a 2.0L Escape will be my next project vehicle after I sell my current project vehicle.
