Good morning Wildebird, sorry for the late reply. I had to have a little procedure done at the hospital and been out of commission for a few days. I got my 8.8 from a 94 ford explorer and it fit perfect. I was looking for a 97 and up so it would have disc brakes but at the time pull a parts didn't have one. Now they have tons of them. I got mine for 65 bucks drum to drum. Can't beat that price.
So I'm nearing the end of the resto and need to replace the tie rods. The drop spindles are late second gen Camaro stuff but........the tie Rod ends don't match Cararo stuff. They are thinner and a just look different. I installed 1980 tie rods on the passenger side and now have limited steering in that direction. I realize it hasn't been to the alignment shop yet but def turns sharper to the left than the right. It has the quick ratio box and I'm about a quarter steering wheel shy of being against the stops. The tie rods were shot and it was difficult to say the least to get the nuts off. The centers spun so it was time to replace them. The right inner didn't even have a cotter pin in it. What tie rods are people running. It appears to be a GM graft but the tie rods are different on both sides. The right were adjusted to fit the taper of the spindles. As with any project it's difficult to find what was used. I'm keeping a record so I can remember what parts and vehicle work with the restoration.
