I have a 55 F-100. I was checking things out and noticed that the frame horns(front) narrow down then welded on are the standard ends to bolt the bumper on. I will try to post some pics that I have taken if I can figure it out. My old 55 frame that went with the other truck was not like this.
Thanks

Ok I have downloaded some pics of the frame. The one with the yard stick shows where the frame horns were welded and than I have one of the steering box. Have to look in my gallery I quess.
Strange. Measure the length of your front springs from eyelet to eyelet. F-1 front springs are shorter than F100 springs. F-1 front springs measure about 35".
From what little I see, I would say your frame is correct. I would say another owner cut the frame horns off to have the smooth look, than decided he wanted to put the bumper back on and just grafted some channel on to bolt the bumper to. Look for the serial # on top of the frame passenger side just in front of the cab mount, trans cross member. Should say someting similar to this f10v5xxxxxx

From eye to eye it is 42 inches. Thanks guys and I will look for the serial number and look closer at the bumper mounting. The frame before the weld is about 3 1/2" the channel is 4 Walt thanks on helping me post some pics. Go to my gallery I have a pic of a f-100 that Corky Coker owns for Honest Charleys speed shop.
Also looks like the lower bumper mounting bracket is missing, this bracket also has approx a 1/2 inch offset in it. The bumper also looks like it is mounted close to the valance, a popular modification with the 53-56 ford trucks.
