what does stx mean ???????
i have friend that just purchased a ford ranger stx 91' 4.0 with a 5 speed and it is a 4x4 but it says stx on it and we were told it is some kind of off road package but not 100% sure any one who knows specifics could give me a hand with my friends truck.

Well, I don't know for sure what it means, but I do know it is NOT an off-road package . I have seen 2wd trucks that have the STX stickers on the bed. Somebody where I work has a newer F-150 with the STX stickers and the only noticable difference I can see is maybe the tires are a little wider and lower profile than stock. Maybe it is just some sort of sport package.

"OK, XL, XLT then STX are trim levels with STX being the highest. Ranger had the designation STX in the 80's and early 90's and did include some chasis designations but that all quit in 93. The F150 took over the STX and is for trim level only nothing more."
