I have a 93 Ranger, STX, 4X4, 5 spd, standard cab. Can anyone tell me what exactly STX meant and included in 93? Also, will this make the value of my truck go up?
STX is a trim level. Base trim was XL, middle trim XLT and STX
was the higher level of trim. STX came with an ugly tape stripe and painted bumpers. XLT had a small tape stripe and chrome bumpers. XL had painted bumpers. STX was a name Ranger used for a few years from the late 80's to about 95. Then F-Series took the name for their truck and Ranger dropped it. Probably stands for something like Sport Truck Exterior. Some early STX models in the 80's to 92 included some different chassis components, but starting in 93, it became a trim level designation.
just wanted to let ya know that STX is not just a paint job, i have a 96 Ranger STX. it sits higher than any stock 4wd ranger i have ever put it beside....not being rude just saying its more than just a fancy paint job
Any height difference has to be due to tires. The 4x4 STX had a 265/75/15 tire option. (may have been standard) The XL and XLT may have had the same option but most seem to have 235/75/15s. In the 80s and possibly early 90s, there was an optional suspension package that raised the ride height a couple of inches or something like that, but '93-'97 STX was simply a trim package.
