The EGR is not normally connected to the headers; they have passages internal to the intake manifold that lead from the heads to the throttle body.

The tubes you're referring to are probably for the thermactor air injection into the catalytic converters. If you don't have smog inspection, you can probably remove the thermactor system and plug up the holes without hurting too much. Just make sure to keep the engine in good tune to minimize raw gas in the exhaust, or one backfire can blow the whole system apart.

On the 5.8 the EGR tube connects to the front of the passenger side manifold or header and goes to a vacuum activated valve near the throttlebody, that's it one tube and 1 valve.
The smog system includes a whole bunch of tubing and valves connecting the air pump to the exhaust system and either the rear of the exhaust manifolds or the rear of the heads, and it's sole purpose in life is to feed fresh air to the factory cats. If the factory cats are gone all that other stuff can go too, the only parts that must remain are the TAB and TAD solenoids near the ignition coil which must remain electrically connected.

ok thanks so the egr has been removed because their is nothing that can be connected to the long tube headers what do I do with the vacuum lines some of them are plugged and some are not .. one of the vacuum solenoid was unplugged. and their.is a big one in front of the tb with a broken vacuum line ..?

EGR cannot be removed without setting a check engine light but the system can be disabled with no ill efects, to do that the valve must be blocked where it attaches near the TB and vacuum and electrical lines connected so it goes through the motions but no air is allowed into the engine. Everything else not associated with EGR can go and all vacuum lines not connected removed or capped.
