I've got a 302 and was looking to go threw it. I was told I could swap out my stock heads for 400m heads with a special intake for more power . Is there any truth to this . I was thinking they were different all together.
There are more heads made for the small block windsors motors than all other Ford motors put together so you don't need some odd ball combination to get more power.

Completely agree....also the 400M series heads (IIRR) would lower your CR (just a tad) and reduce flow at 4000+ rpm.

Whoever told you that should not be relied upon for any information, up to and including whether it's day or night.
That was my thought but was just checking. My dad has an old mercury montego with a 351w that would possibly go to scrap and use the crank , heads and possibly the rods .
I have been through this many times, forget the 302 ,and build the 351.besides it's the 351 Cleveland you use the heads off of,but it way more trouble than its worth.i have seen quiet a few windsors with a cheap 393 stroker kit make some impressive HP with stock heads.

Use the whole thing.
351W crank will not work in a 302.
Heads may or may not be better.
But, starting with a 351W you will be miles ahead in torque and power vs. a 302 with similar mods.
I think what you should do is post more info. Say what year the engine is? What vehicle will in go in to? How will it be used? Pure street, or something else? What is your budget?

You can. Some mods have to be done to the heads. It takes a special head gaskets from ford and edelbrock makes an intake that will adapt the whole deal. The head mods have to do with the dry to wet intake.
You also need special pistons with the reliefs cut in a different spot. Kb makes these too. I have a bunch of info on this somewhere. I will see if I can dig it out.
