1956 Big Window Project

Started this truck 3 months ago. It was in shambles. But it's almost done. I hope it's complete in another week. I have a Volare front end and a custom 4 link rear with a 9". It's been fun to build. Our shop keeps busy with these old things. Sports a 351C and an automatic tranny. Lokar shifter and Flaming River column. Custom designed leather interior. It's a Mercedes silver and is stunning in the sun. Very cool truck.

That's a beautiful truck, very nicely done!!

Any details on the bed wood? I like the dark look, just can't tell if it's a dark finish on oak, or if its a darker exotic wood.

Thanks
Ralph

It's Sapele Mahogany. I dyed the wood to start with. Then black glaze for depth. Then a satin finish. I never do Red Oak.

Few Questions:
Who's bed are you using?
Using stock hood hinges how good does your hood line up when closed?
Is that a stock seat?
What transmission are you running?
What brand of steering wheel is that?

We mill our own wood. We mill for local people too and have shipped as well.

stock hinges are ok. Left because I may eventually upgrade to billet hinges. I'm not a fan of tilt BMW style hoods.

It's a stock seat I designed.

Using an FMX trans because I had it.

Vintiques steering wheel. It's my favorite one.

Looks good overall but that front bumper needs to be raised.

What kind of door latches are you using? Did you put a key/lock on the driver's door?
