4.0l howling noise
hi guys my 97 ranger with a 4.0l engine intermittently howls sounds like it from the plenum area...only happens when outside temp is over 80 degrees and ideling or low rpm...any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks rockledge.....pulled off the iac cleaned it with a typewriter cleaner / degreaser sprayed some wd-40 on it and drove all day yeasterday in 95 deg. no more noise... thanks and have a good day

Thanks for the feedback...always like to hear those success stories....you are lucky to get away with just a cleaning of the IAC, most people have to spend the dough for a new one!

4.0l howling noise
My 95 with 4.0V6 makes the same sound but i just figured it was the whirling sound of the fan. Never figured it was a mechanical problem. What exactly does this little dohicky do. And besides the noise is there anything else it can mess up. THanks
