AOD upgrades?

AOD upgrades?
I got an AOD that's gonna be going behind my mild 351C in my 71 F100.
So I want to know, what are some things I should do (if any) before I put it in.
I want to do a good shift kit, a heavy duty/ towing kind, not a hot rod kind.
Any other good upgrades for strength and performance?

Talk to them and tell them what year your trans is and they can then suggest upgrades. Early AODs were pretty weak compared to later versions which got bigger drums with more clutches, wider bands, and better quality parts overall. The concentric input shaft is a known weak point so you should upgrade it or consider eliminating it completely if you can live without the lockup feature, however if you plan to tow with the truck I suggest not deleting it as a constantly slipping TC generates a lot of heat and obviously hurts gas milage. It is also possible to install the 4R70w wide ratio gear set in some AODs so maybe look at that as well.
