I'm looking at replacing my switches in my 66 F100.
I think all I need is the ignition, head lights, and wipers. Is there any other switches that I really need on the dash?
I'm using an electric choke, and I'm going to put in an aftermarket AC/Heat that has those controls on it.
So the question is, if that's all I need, do I fill in the other holes? And if I'm replacing the switches, will aftermarket ones fit in the stock holes or should i fill them in and drill new ones?
My 66 dash is in the exact same stage as yours , I would like to know what goes in which hole . When I got the truck the PO had already stripped it and had all the dash parts in a box . Every photo I see seems to have the switches in different locations . I will plug what I know I won't use like the Choke cable . I'm leaving the "cigarette lighter" so that I have a 12v outlet to plug my phone charger into . Also I think one of the holes is for the Emergency Flasher switch and lamp .... not sure though .
Are you planning to get away from a stock looking dash? Replacing your switches with new ones is a good idea. Replacing them with Chinese aftermarket switches isn't. Motorcraft switches are available for lights and ignition (and turn signals, for that matter, though you didn't mention it). They do cost more than the aftermarket ones, but they work properly. Depending on which wiper switch you have, they can be more difficult to find, but they're out there. Are you planning to do away with the emergency flasher switch and light? The lighter/aux power port? The windshield washers? When I did my truck I took the opportunity to move my lighter over to the right side of the panel, moved my W/S washer button, and added a cargo area (bed) light using a switch/bezel that was similar in appearance to my '66 bezels from a '68 Ranger. This helped fill some of the holes when I too went with an aftermarket HVAC system. There are some chrome factory hole covers out there, but they might not be to your taste. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm not worried about staying stock on these, so I don't mind changing the look. As for turn signals, I plan on putting in an aftermarket PS steering column that has the turn signals on it. I will be keeping the power outlet, so I guess the ones I will be removing is the Fan and Choke. I had forgot that one of them was the emergency flasher, I guess I need to keep that one. So since its just the two, I'll probably figure out my arrangement that I want and fill in the two holes.
TxStang: Using rwrogers picture (above) as a template, starting on the left side of the steering column hole, the TOP vertical hole is for your windshield washer button, if your truck is so equipped. Directly below that is the ignition switch. The most outboard of the three left side holes is for the light switch. The middle hole is for the wiper switch. The left side inboard hole is for the lighter. Crossing over, the right side inboard hole is for the emergency flasher warning light (not all trucks have this option so this "4th hole" may not be there). Next to it is the emergency warning flasher switch. If your truck doesn't have the flashers, then this hole may have a cover plate over it. Next to the right is the choke cable. And furthest right is the heater cable/fan control switch. rwrogers: Many F100 truck vendors carry the Motorcraft switches. My National Parts Depot catalog, 9th edition, page 14, has switches on it. My Obsolete and Classic Auto Parts catalog has them on pp 122-3. You can probably find them on their websites. Number Dummy can find them for you and get you better prices. Good luck!
